 Slanted Weaving

How to Make a Book Cover?

You will need an old T-shirt, a standard-sized book, a cotton cord for edging, scissors, and a needle with a large eye.

Carefully lay the book open on the t-shirt. Do not press it to avoid tearing the covers. Unfortunately, most books today are unstitched and poorly glued. By laying the book, you will get a general idea of how much of the t-shirt you need to cut.

Cut while leaving about one centimeter from the top and bottom edges and as much length as possible. Cut both the front and back double – this will make the cover thicker.

Wrap the book with the piece of fabric and fold the excess on each side. Pin it in place to prevent the two layers from shifting. Try to make the covers from t-shirts according to a specific book size and don’t make them too large, as they will bend and crumple the soft covers. Larger ones can only be for hardback universal covers, made from woven fabric. Finally, sew the cover with cotton cord, securing both layers of jersey. If desired, choose a blanket stitch or edge the cover with a crochet. Finally, just slip the book into the cover.
